The End of a Decade:

It’s a rare occurrence that I post a video of another’s work that I had no involvement in, but to celebrate the end of the year, which also happens to be the 10th anniversary of this website, I thought I’d post this music video by Sideshow Alley. It features a stellar Swedish folk duo by the name of First Aid Kit performing live in Australia. The song also bears special meaning for me as it’s titled “Waltz for Richard” and is a wonderful tune, in 3/4 timing no less.

RickandRak.com

It was ten years ago at this time that a friend and I started posting homemade videos of silly skits and random shenanigans on a site called RickandRak.com, which later became RickRock.com in 2005. Around the same time is when I finally decided to get serious about filmmaking and freelance videography and began working on professional projects and learning the craft. While I do miss the old days, I value them as cherished memories and value all of the experience I’ve gained since then. Perhaps some day, I will fashion a feature work out of all my old tapes and videos. Some day…

Happy New Year and lets make the next decade as great, if not better than the previous one. Salute!

Three Faces of Eve “The Culling” Music Video

Three Faces of Eve "The Culling" Music Video

Earlier this year, I completed my first music video ever for a band I’m a big fan of named Three Faces of Eve. This was shot in the basement of their house, Fort Awesome, using a Canon XL2 with the stock 20x lens and a LetusXL 35mm adapter using a Canon 55mm f/1.2 FD lens. Lighting assistance was provided by Aaron “Big” Deal and post-production was done by Ivan Kander of Lucky 9 Studios.

There were a lot of self-induced mistakes on set, but for my first music video, I think it turned out great. Check it out and let me know what you think!

OH DEAR:

OMG 30 LOLZ!!1!

Resume Page Updated:

Oh snap!

There is a sizable list of fun projects I’ve worked on over the years on the Resume Page. It doesn’t include the 150+ random original videos I’ve done for the web as I’m only listing professional projects for the time being. Either way, go check it out.

Next on the agenda is getting examples of said projects and a full on demo reel on the Reel Page.

HOLLA!

Finally: New Website

O hai.

I finally got around to developing a new layout for my website. I will be uploading videos of my currently in-progress and recently completed projects shortly.

Joy!
